Description
Management of financial operations, reporting & compliance, and support
performance management and finance strategy projects.
Responsibilities
Financial Operations
- Manage PO process and oversee accounts payable
- Manage/optimise payments & liquidity & reporting of same
- Manage travel & expenses process
- Manage R&D contemporaneous timesheets & reporting process and
related R&D regime requirements - Manage month-end close process to strict timelines
Process Improvements & Systems Implementation - Support the implementation of finance system upgrades, software
and reporting tools - Lead ongoing development, implementation and documentation of
robust policies & processes in line with scaling operations and best
practice - Lead development and communication of comprehensive guidance
of finance process’ for wider team
Reporting, compliance & governance
- Prepare monthly and quarterly accounts/management information
pack to meet internal and external reporting deadlines (incl. analysis
for executive management, the board and external investors) - Lead annual financial audit, investor audit requests and preparation of
statutory accounts - Review VAT & annual corporation tax returns (incl. form 46G)
- Lead annual R&D tax credit review:
o Preparation of R&D tax calculation
o Manage tax advisor information requests and review
final reports - Complete other information requests as required (CSO, investor etc)
Performance management and business partnership
- Support VP Finance with development of annual budget and periodic
forecasting processes - Work with the various department heads/budget owners to develop
budgets - Prepare detailed performance analysis and other ad hoc financial
analysis as required - Support identification and implement cost management initiatives
Financial strategy and corporate structure
- Support due diligence and execution of financing transactions
- Support corporate structuring projects and integration with finance
operations in line with scaling of operations
Knowledge & Education:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- 4/5 years post qualification experience.
Competencies & Experience:
- Flexible, enthusiastic, self-starter, team player
- Excellent analytical skills (advanced Excel) with very strong numeracy
- High attention to detail
- Strong report writing experience
- Strong communicator with experience developing relationships with
- senior internal stakeholders to understand their requirements
- Good commercial acumen and understanding of how the finance
function adds value to strategic decision-making - An aptitude for proactively identifying issues, proposing &
implementing solutions - Strong project management and multi-tasking skills
- Proven ability to function efficiently in a fast-paced environment with
multiple, shifting priorities
